Richard Askwith

Richard Askwith is an award-winning author and journalist whose passions include running, outdoor adventure and the traditions of the English countryside. Twice honoured at the British Sports Book Awards (most recently for his biographical work, Unbreakable: The Countess, the Nazis and the World’s Most Dangerous Horse Race), he has written several non-fiction works with subversive rural themes, including Running Free (shortlisted for the 2015 Thwaites Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing), which celebrates “a runner’s journey back to nature”. A former executive editor of The Independent, he has been a journalist for forty years.
